Sandwich dual form can create a clean upper surface and a smooth underside. In many tutorials on social media, the gel is applied directly onto the top of the bottom form first, and then placed it underneath the natural nail. Although this method works, it can lead to several problems.
🙋Problems With the Common Bottom Form Placement Method:
- direct skin contact with uncured gel
- a built-in ridge that becomes visible after two or three weeks of growth
- increased risk of listing
- less precise gel control around A/B points and sidewall structure
The issue is not the sandwich dual form itself. The problem is the order of placement. Understanding correct bottom form placement helps explain why this common method might fail, and how a safer technique can achieve the same clean top and bottom result with better control.
💗The Safe Sandwich Dual Form Method
The safe technique reverses the sequence.
Instead of loading gel onto the bottom form and sliding it underneath the nail, the bottom sandwich dual form is first positioned onto the natural nail plate. The form should sit on approximately the bottom one-third of the nail, rather than being pushed underneath the free edge or into the skin area.
Apply only a tiny amount of gel under the C-curve area of the bottom form, smooth it flat, and then place the form carefully onto the nail. Once the form is correctly positioned, flash cure for 10-15 seconds to lock it in place.
This helps secure the A/B points, reduce gaps, and keep the product away from the surrounding skin.
Step by Step Safe Application
- Select the bottom sandwich dual form according to client's nail size and shape requirements
- Apply tiny amount of gel product under the C-curve area of bottom form
- Smooth the gel flat so there are no bulky areas before placement
- Position the bottom form on approximately the bottom 1/3 of your nail
- Flash cure immediately for 10-15 seconds to hold the form in place.
- Check the underside carefully to make sure there is no uncured product touching the skin or surrounding tissue.

How to use sandwich dual form (sassytip_official)
When done properly, this method allows the gel to touch only the natural nail and the sandwich form surface. It helps create a clean underside while reducing the risk of skin contact, lifting, ridges, and poor sidewall control.
